Made these for 4 of my kids for Christmas. Love the pattern, quick and easy. Used other patterns before discovering Peek-a-boo and my kids didn't like them, not enough room in the back. This patter accommodates that issue and makes them so comfortable to wear.

Easy and quick to sew... love them! I have already ordered fabric with all my kid's favorite characters for more PJ pants.

First off, I am a quilter, not a seamstress. I want to start making clothing though, and this is one of the first garments I have made. I did make a similar pair of PJ pants for myself in a class at a local quilt shop a year or so ago, and I must say that these were much easier to make. Aside from that, the only garment experience I can claim is a couple halloween costumes for my daughter made from Simplicity patterns.

Somehow I got it in my head that I wanted to make PJ pants for my 2yr old and settled on this pattern. I thought they looked a little baggy, so I wanted to narrow up the leg a little (and I don't have a serger). I decided to do a french seam for the legs, which I then top stitched to secure it flat. I realized too late that there was no way I could stitch the inseam down flat on such a small pair of pants, so I ended up fusing the inner seam down with some Steam A Seam tape... so I know not to do that on my next pair! The french seam pretty much equals a 3/4" seam allowance rather than the 1/2" the pattern calls for. (still used 1/2" regular seam for crotch)

My husband said he still thought they looked a little baggy, but I think they are perfect. They are too long for her without adjusting the pattern's length though. She was sleeping when I made them, so I just went by the pattern... next time I will shorten by about 1.5-2 inches.

The waist is perfect at the suggested elastic length though! I used some 3/4" woven non-roll elastic I had on hand. I will have to get some tags or something to put in future pairs though, since my husband complains he can't tell the front from the back. Even I have to either fold them or look at my stitching for the spot I inserted the elastic to determine which way they go.

Definitely follow the advice for extra stitching in the crotch though. My daughter was lounging in my lap with her knees out and feet together... I noticed I could see it pulling at that seam and stressing the stitches so that they were peeking out. I am glad I double stitched as suggested! I might have to further reinforce the next pair.

Now my only problem is that I need to find the perfect long sleeve tee to go with all the PJ pants I want to make...

I downloaded this pattern and the next week had three sizes cut and sewn! I made them for my three girls and they love them! They are definitely a loose baggy fit, I actually sized down for my 9 year old and they were still roomy! The pattern is super simple, and quick! I will be making many more of these!
